HAMMY (Stories)
At the first sign of danger, a fox or some Pioneers, he dives underground! Here, in his hole, he's not afraid of anybody. Just closes his eyes and goes to sleep. We're all angels when we're asleep. When Hammy isn't asleep, he's darting about the fields picking up grain. So he's a thief. We know that, but he doesn't. He sees some fallen grain on the ground and grabs it! That seems the right thing to do. He thinks it doesn't belong to anyone. So people call him a pest. But he doesn't think he is. Why not? He just doesn't! His best friend Goph does everything Hammy tells him. Hammy's a whole six months older than him. So he must be smarter, mustn't he? HOW HAMMY AND GOPH LOOKED INTO THE WATER |
